In 2000 Hendré and Tiekie Papenfus overnight found themselves in an establishment for homeless people. Nowhere to go, and surviving on the income of a Pizza Delivery Guy.

In that same year Hendré got offered a position as an educational software consultant.
That morning he got up and took the bus to his new job and as he walked out of those premises he turned around, pointing his finger to the gate and said “We will never be here again”

In the years to follow he excelled at sales by listening to what parents wanted and realised the enormous need for great, successful and cost effective educational software for South African learners, and in 2012 Math Zone was borne, from their garage.

Hoekom Doen Ons Wat Ons Doen?

In 2001 Tiekie Papenfus started working for the same Company Hendré worked for, and her main objective was to liaison with primary schools across South Africa.

After thousands of meetings with principals, HOD’s and remedial professionals, Tiekie realised that educational software should be a live system that evolve with the learners and constant curriculum changes, but that she had no power over the development and in 2012 she and Hendré decided that they need to have that ability to give the school and learner exactly what they needed. With constant and relevant upgrades we would be advancing learners to achieve their own and personal best.

Henriëtte started doing research.
Day and night. Making videos for Math Zone to explain the different Math methods in a way that children could resonate with. Literally hundreds of hours of work. Their goal was to be the best.

Math Zone was born.
